Free text editor for Mac OS X

I had a lot of troubles to find a free / open-source text editor for Mac OS X, most of the Google search reach shareware tools like Textmate. I finally found Smultron which is a very good source free / open source code text editor for Mac OS X [1]. I highly recommend it, its is very close to what Kate offers on KDE, i.e., it is simple, yet it just works as you need.
